The e-bike market has grown rapidly over the past few years, and with that growth comes a real challenge: finding a shop that can actually service your electric bike. E-bikes are not just regular bikes with a motor bolted on. They have proprietary drivetrains, integrated electronics, battery management systems, and firmware that require specialized training and diagnostic tools to service properly.
Not every bike shop has that training. Many traditional shops are not equipped to diagnose a Shimano STEPS error code, update Bosch firmware, or perform a battery health check. That is where Hanover Bikes comes in.
Certified Shimano STEPS and Bosch Service Center
Hanover Bikes and Fitting in Overland Park is a certified service center for both Shimano STEPS and Bosch — the two most widely used e-bike drivetrain systems in the industry. These certifications mean our mechanics have completed factory training and have access to the diagnostic tools required for:
- Motor diagnostics and service — error codes, performance issues, motor replacement
- Battery health checks — capacity testing, cell balancing, charge cycle analysis
- Firmware updates — keeping your e-bike's software current for optimal performance
- Drivetrain calibration — ensuring the motor and gears work together smoothly
- General mechanical repair — brakes, wheels, tires, cables, and everything else
We Service All E-Bike Brands
You do not need to have purchased your e-bike from us to get it serviced here. We work on all e-bike brands, including Velotric, Lectric, Rad Power Bikes, Trek, Specialized, Giant, Aventon, and more. If it has a motor and two wheels, we can help.
This is especially important for riders who bought their e-bike online. Brands like Lectric and Rad Power Bikes sell primarily direct-to-consumer, which means there is no local dealer to turn to when something goes wrong. Hanover fills that gap — we provide the local, hands-on service that online-only brands cannot.
15+ Years of Mechanical Expertise
Jeff Shipman, the owner and master mechanic at Hanover Bikes, brings over 15 years of hands-on mechanical experience to every job. He served as General Manager at Waldo Bikes in Kansas City for nearly 13 years before founding Hanover, so the depth of experience behind every repair is significant.
Whether your e-bike needs a simple tune-up, a complex motor diagnostic, or a full rebuild, the work is done by someone who has been doing this professionally for over a decade.
Walk-Ins Welcome
Unlike bike fittings, which are by appointment only, repairs and service at Hanover are walk-in friendly. Just bring your bike in during business hours and we will take a look.
