What makes Hanover Bikes different from other bike shops?
We’re a small team with over 40 years of combined experience — a master mechanic, a fitter with an occupational therapy background, and an engineer. Every customer gets personal attention from the people doing the work, not a sales floor associate. We’re not trying to be the biggest shop — we’re focused on being the best at service, fitting, and repair.
Who works at Hanover Bikes?
Jeff Shipman is the owner, manager, and master mechanic with 15+ years of experience. Mike Irwin is our head fitter with an occupational therapy background. Bob Schroeder is a fitter and repair technician with an engineering background.
Fitting
What is a professional bike fitting?
A professional bike fitting is a hands-on session where our certified fitters assess your body, riding style, and goals to optimize your bike’s setup for comfort, efficiency, and injury prevention. We use a manual, body-aware approach — not just computer measurements.
Who does the bike fittings at Hanover?
Mike Irwin leads our fitting program. He has an occupational therapy background and specializes in challenging fits, including injury prevention, recovery, and disability accommodations. Bob Schroeder, an engineer, also performs fittings with a precision-driven approach focused on rider comfort.
What types of bike fittings do you offer?
We offer Comfort, Road, Tri, Mountain, Tandem, Spin Cycle, Recumbent, and Consultation fittings. Not sure which one you need? Start with a Consultation and we’ll recommend the right path.
How much does a bike fitting cost?
Contact us for current fitting pricing — call (913) 363-9933 or email shop@hanoverbikes.com. We offer a Saddle Test Ride Program so you can find the right saddle as part of your fit.
How is your fitting different from a Retül fit?
Our fitting is manual and body-aware, informed by occupational therapy knowledge of how the body moves, compensates, and fatigues. Rather than relying primarily on computer-based 3D measurements, we assess each rider individually — which is especially important for injury prevention, recovery, and riders with unique physical needs.
